PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) announced their latest publications aimed at aiding meeting and event planners and international travel suppliers and tour operators, two key PHLCVB audiences, as they plan Philadelphia conventions, events and travel products. Both guides serve as introductions to the city, highlighting Philadelphia’s assets and attractions.

The 2024 Destination Planning Guide (DPG) is a top resource for planners seeking to host a meeting, convention or event in Philadelphia, while the 2024 International Visitors Guide (IVG), offered in nine languages, enhances the experience for worldwide travelers, reflecting Philadelphia’s commitment to welcoming visitors from across the globe.

The DPG is a tool for planners, offering a comprehensive overview of why and how to execute a successful event experience in Philadelphia. With details on the Pennsylvania Convention Center and other unique local venues, insight into Philadelphia’s convenient East Coast location, and a planning-in-Philadelphia checklist, planners can make informed decisions tailored to the specific needs of their event.

“In the highly competitive landscape of city tourism and event hosting, the PHLCVB’s Destination Planning Guide and International Visitors Guide give Philadelphia a distinct advantage,” said Maria Grasso, PHLCVB chief sales officer. “These tailored resources for meeting planners and international visitors ensure Philadelphia not only meets but also exceeds the expectations of its diverse audiences, establishing it as a premier destination for both business and leisure.”

The DPG provides resources for planning a DEI-minded event in Philadelphia. This year’s edition features a guide to planning accessible meetings in Philadelphia, with guidance from the executive director of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. It also includes a downloadable link to the PHLCVB’s new Diversity Guide and a diverse business directory.

The PHLCVB is responsible for increasing Philadelphia’s position as a leading destination for international visitors in partnership with 10 in-market representation offices. These offices, located in key tourism markets, including China, France, Germany, India and the UK, play a crucial role in promoting the city and use the IVG as a sales tool.

“The new edition of the International Visitors Guide is designed to inspire international visitors to explore Philadelphia beyond the classic iconic sites, and discover Philadelphia’s vibrant street art, abundant green spaces and more,” said Svetlana Yazovskikh, PHLCVB vice president of global tourism. “The guide also reinforces Philadelphia as a multi-night stay destination, helping visitors plan their extended stays and tailor their experiences, whether they have interests in sustainable travel practices, luxury experiences, or visiting famous film locations.”

In addition to diverse itineraries, the guide also positions Philadelphia as a welcoming destination for international visitors by highlighting 28+ attractions, museums and tours that offer experiences in foreign languages, ranging from translated content and audio guides to in-language guided tours. The IVG is available in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Portuguese.
