In February 2025, the American Bus Association (ABA) hosted 2,800 travel and transportation professionals in Philadelphia for its annual ABA Marketplace—North America’s leading tradeshow for the motorcoach and group tour industry.
Held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the four-day convention featured educational sessions, destination exhibits, and even full-size motorcoaches on the show floor. With more than 130,000 business appointment slots, ABA Marketplace 2025 delivered unmatched opportunities for trip planning and itinerary development.
It wasn’t just the numbers that impressed. It was the experience. ABA President and CEO Fred Ferguson summed it up simply: “There [are] not a lot of cities that can host this. Philadelphia was the perfect spot to feed us, to house us, and to have this amazing event.”
Philadelphia’s central location and accessibility played a major role in the event’s success. Hotels, restaurants, and meeting spaces were all conveniently located within walking distance of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Delegates moved around the city with ease, and transportation logistics—including motorcoach parking and hotel drop-offs—ran smoothly thanks to the city’s infrastructure and the experienced team at the Convention Center.
The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (PHLCVB) Destination Services team worked hand-in-hand with ABA throughout the planning process. They helped to coordinate hotel blocks, support venue needs, and ensure every detail was covered from start to finish. The team also coordinated a corporate responsibility project with Peace + Love, a socially conscious fashion brand that supports the stand against domestic violence abuse.
“It’s been a win-win-win,” Ferguson said. “We have everything we need.”
Beyond the Pennsylvania Convention Center, ABA Marketplace 2025 brought Philadelphia’s culture and history to life for attendees. Historical figures like George Washington and Betsy Ross walked the show floor, mingling with delegates and spotlighting the city’s iconic past. A Revolutionary War-era costumed marching band added energy and excitement to the exhibit hall.
Evening events showcased Philadelphia and the region in unexpected and unforgettable ways. A Prohibition-themed party, hosted by Pennsylvania’s destination marketing organizations, took place at the Masonic Temple, Library & Museum. The all-delegate evening event—The Jersey WOW Experience—invited attendees to Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ for a lively night across the Delaware River.
With Philadelphia as both backdrop and host, the city became part of the event. From seamless logistics to memorable events, ABA Marketplace 2025 in Philadelphia left a lasting impression on attendees, tour planners, and tour operators alike.
