The American College of Emergency Physicians hosted the heroes of COVID-19 in Philadelphia during their 2023 Scientific Assembly (ACEP23).

Over 6,000 worldwide attendees made up of emergency physicians, residents, medical students, and healthcare professionals engaged in education sessions, networking, lab sessions, and more in Philadelphia — a city full of medical history, innovative medical institutions, and a flourishing life sciences community.

Medical professionals ventured throughout the Pennsylvania Convention Center, “an incredible venue that really wowed people,” according to Bobby Heard, COO of ACEP. Over four days, the Convention Center hosted information sessions and medical exhibitions, welcoming professionals from various fields. And at night, the Convention Center remained the place to be, as the Center’s Grand Hall transformed into a distinct and exciting party experience. The ballroom hosted an NFL Watch Party, Game Night with team trivia, a double feature movie night, and a kick-off party complete with a swing band and dancers.

The PHLCVB Destination Services team worked with the planners of ACEP23 to help give the convention a memorable Philadelphia flare. The team helped create engagement experiences, such as bringing a Rocky impersonator to the convention floor. Even Chapter President Richard Hamilton got in on the fun, addressing a council meeting dressed as Rocky Balboa.

Destination Services further assisted the ACEP team by suggesting captivating venues for social gatherings. The ACEP23 Executive Leadership Summit took place at the adjacent Hard Rock Café, while an after-hours cemetery tour added a unique touch at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Additionally, family-friendly activities were recommended, encouraging attendees to share the experience with their spouses and children in Philadelphia.
