With a collection of more than one million objects from across the
globe, The Penn Museum: America’s Museum of Ancient
Worlds invites visitors to explore ancient worlds and find
their own place in the arc of human history. Housed in an eclectic
building featuring mixed architectural elements and surrounded by
outdoor gardens, fountains, and a koi pond that provides a peaceful
urban oasis, the Penn Museum
...
is open to everyone. After entering the building, visitors are
greeted with awe-inspiring stories told through galleries dedicated
to Egypt, Greece, Rome, Etruscan Italy, Israel, China & Japan, and
the Middle East. The Penn Museum unveils its newest spaces in
November 2019: a brand-new, light-filled Main Entrance Hall,
where a 25,000-pound red granite Sphinx of the Pharaoh Ramses II
will greet guests from his elevated platform in the Sphinx
Gallery; a completely reimagined Mexico and Central
America Gallery; and a suite of Africa Galleries. Special
exhibitions include Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display,
which gives guests the chance to “walk in the shoes of an
archaeologist,” with an insider’s look into where artifacts come
from and how they are conserved. The Penn Museum offers a wide
variety of public programs that cater to various ages and interests
– from CultureFest! cultural celebrations, Museum
Playdates, and family Second Saturday activities, to
lectures that connect the ancient past with today. The Museum also
offers Global Guides tours led by immigrants and refugees
from Iraq, Syria, Mexico, or Central America who share their own
personal stories and experiences living in the region. Follow us
